When will JEE Main 2027 registration open?
JEE Main 2027 registration is expected to open around late October to November 2026, when NTA publishes the information bulletin on jeemain.nta.nic.in. The registration window usually stays open for a few weeks; don't wait for the last day, when the site is slowest.
What happened in the 2026 cycle?
For JEE Main 2026, Session 1 was held in late January 2026 and Session 2 in early April 2026. The 2027 dates above assume NTA keeps that rhythm. For exact 2026 notice dates, see the archived notices on nta.ac.in.
What should you keep ready before registering?
Have a working email address and mobile number you'll keep for the whole cycle, your Class 10 and Class 12 details, a recent photograph and signature in the format the bulletin asks for, and your category certificate if you're claiming a reservation. The bulletin lists the exact documents and file sizes.

About four months to Session 1. Where are the marks?
A 20-minute diagnostic tells you which chapters to fix before January, not after.
Should you write both JEE Main 2027 sessions?
For most students, yes. NTA uses the better of your two NTA scores, so Session 2 can only help your rank. Session 1 also works as a full dress rehearsal: you learn the centre, the interface and how your nerves behave under a real clock.
The case for skipping Session 1 is narrow — usually a Class 12 student whose board practicals and pre-boards clash badly with late January. Even then, the cost of sitting it is one day; the benefit is a real attempt on record.
What happens between Session 2 and JEE Advanced?
After the final JEE Main result in mid-to-late April, the top 2,50,000 B.E./B.Tech qualifiers across categories become eligible to register for JEE Advanced 2027. JEE Advanced has been held in mid-to-late May in recent years (18 May in 2025, 17 May in 2026), which leaves only a few weeks. See the JEE Advanced hub and the exam calendar for the full year.
When does JoSAA counselling start?
JoSAA counselling for IITs, NITs, IIITs and other institutes typically begins after the JEE Advanced result. Our JoSAA counselling guide explains rounds and seat options.
What if JEE Main 2027 clashes with board exams?
For Class 12 students, the hardest stretch of 2027 is February to early April. CBSE board exams usually run from February into April, which sits between the two JEE Main sessions and can run close to Session 2. NTA generally schedules around major board exams, but check both date sheets as soon as they are published.
A few rules of thumb that work for most students:
- Before Session 1: keep board preparation ticking over with an hour a day. Pre-boards in December and January are practice, not the exam.
- Between sessions: boards come first while they're on. On a free day between papers, do one timed JEE section rather than a full mock.
- After the last board paper: switch fully to Session 2 mocks and the chapters your Session 1 response sheet flagged.
The CBSE Class 11–12 hub covers board preparation alongside entrance exams, and the study timetable generator builds a week-by-week plan around both.
What if you miss a date?
Missed the Session 1 registration window? You can usually still register for Session 2 when that window opens. Missed a correction window? Read the NTA notice for any late correction facility before contacting the helpline. Dates can shift, so bookmark jeemain.nta.nic.in and check the "Latest News" notices weekly from October.
A study plan built around the 2027 dates
Our suggested phases for a Class 12 student starting in September 2026. Adjust to your own weak-chapter map.
- 01
Sep–Oct 2026
Close the biggest leaks
Finish syllabus gaps in the chapters that cost the most marks, not the ones you like. Register as soon as the window opens.
- 02
Nov–Dec 2026
Full-length mocks weekly
One full paper a week under timed conditions, then spend longer analysing it than you spent writing it.
- 03
Jan 2027
Revision and Session 1
Previous year papers from 2025 and 2026 — the current pattern — and short formula revision. No new chapters in the last ten days.
- 04
Feb–Mar 2027
Boards, then repair
Board exams take priority. Use the Session 1 score to pick the two or three chapters that would move your percentile most.
- 05
Early Apr 2027
Session 2
Mocks again for the final two weeks, then Session 2 — and JEE Advanced prep straight after if you qualify.
JEE Main 2027 dates: common questions
When is JEE Main 2027 exam date?
JEE Main 2027 Session 1 is expected in late January 2027 and Session 2 in early April 2027, following the 2025 and 2026 schedules. NTA had not announced official dates as of September 2026. The exact shift dates will be in the JEE Main 2027 information bulletin on jeemain.nta.nic.in.
When will JEE Main 2027 registration start?
JEE Main 2027 registration is expected to open around late October to November 2026, when NTA releases the information bulletin. Registration for Session 2 usually opens separately after Session 1, around February to March. Register for Session 1 early rather than on the last day, when the website is busiest.
When is the JEE Main 2027 result?
The JEE Main 2027 final result, with all-India ranks and the JEE Advanced qualifying percentile, is expected around mid-to-late April 2027, after Session 2. Session 1 NTA scores are declared earlier, a few weeks after the Session 1 exam. Both dates are expected until NTA confirms them.
Is it compulsory to appear in both JEE Main sessions?
No. You can write one or both JEE Main sessions. If you write both, NTA uses the better of your two NTA scores for the rank list, so the second attempt can only help. Most students benefit from writing both, since Session 1 also works as a real rehearsal.
How many days are left for JEE Main 2027?
From mid-September 2026, JEE Main 2027 Session 1 in late January 2027 is roughly four months away, and Session 2 in early April 2027 about six and a half months away. Both dates are expected, based on the 2025 and 2026 schedules, until NTA publishes the official 2027 dates.
