How BrainStride prepares you for NEET UG

The method

  1. A NEET diagnostic

Twenty-five questions in the NEET pattern, marked +4/−1 so the score means something — weighted towards Biology the way the real paper is.

  2. A weak-chapter map, down to the NCERT line

Mastery per chapter across Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. Biology misses point back to the NCERT paragraph the question was written from.

  3. Ninety minutes a day

Re-cut every night from what you got wrong. Physics accuracy drills sit beside Biology recall, so the subject you avoid stops quietly costing you forty marks.

The NEET UG question bank

Every question carries a chapter, a concept and the error it usually catches — which is what lets practice target a leak instead of a syllabus.

When is NEET UG 2027?

NEET UG 2027 is expected on the first Sunday of May 2027, following the pattern of 4 May 2025 and 3 May 2026. The application usually opens in February, the admit card about a week before the exam, and the result in mid-June. NTA has not released the 2027 notification yet, so confirm dates on neet.nta.nic.in.

How many questions are there in NEET UG, and what is the marking scheme?

Since 2025, NEET UG has 180 compulsory questions for 720 marks in 180 minutes: 45 in Physics, 45 in Chemistry and 90 in Biology, split equally between Botany and Zoology. Each correct answer earns +4, each wrong answer −1, and an unattempted question 0. The optional Section B used from 2021 to 2024 was removed.

Is there an age limit or attempt limit for NEET UG?

NEET UG has a minimum age of 17 years by 31 December of the admission year, no upper age limit and no limit on the number of attempts. You need Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology and English, with at least 50% in PCB for General, 45% for General-PwD and 40% for SC, ST and OBC.

What is the qualifying cutoff for NEET UG?

The NEET UG qualifying cutoff is the 50th percentile for General and EWS candidates, the 45th for General-PwD, and the 40th for SC, ST and OBC. In NEET UG 2025 that meant 686–144 marks for General and EWS and 143–113 for OBC, SC and ST. The 2025 paper was notably tougher, so marks-to-rank shifted sharply.

Is NCERT enough for NEET Biology?

For NEET Biology, NCERT is the base almost every question is written from, so line-level reading of the Class 11 and 12 textbooks matters more than extra books. What NCERT alone does not give you is practice at spotting the one changed word in an option. That comes from past papers and timed question sets.

Can I do NEET preparation online without coaching?

Yes, many students do NEET preparation online without coaching, especially droppers. What you need is a fixed daily routine, honest mock analysis and fast doubt-solving. BrainStride handles the last two and writes the routine. If you attend coaching, it covers what happens after class rather than replacing your teacher.

How many MBBS seats are there in India?

India has over 1.1 lakh MBBS seats according to the National Medical Commission (2025 figures). Seats are filled through NEET UG counselling: MCC runs the 15% All India Quota of government seats plus deemed and central universities, while states run the 85% state quota and private colleges.
