JEE Advanced preparation for a paper that changes every year

JEE Advanced preparation is different from JEE Main: two 3-hour papers on the same day, multi-concept problems, and partial marking that punishes guessing. BrainStride is an AI tutor for JEE, NEET and Olympiad preparation that runs a 20-minute diagnostic, maps your weak chapters and writes a daily plan, with every solution checked by teachers.

How BrainStride prepares you for JEE Advanced

Three steps, then a routine

  1. A diagnostic that finds your ceiling

Twenty-five questions that start at Main level and climb, so the map shows where concepts hold and where multi-step problems break.

  2. Partial-marking practice

Multiple-correct questions scored the Advanced way, so you learn when marking one sure option beats risking −2 on a guess.

  3. Paper-pattern mocks, then analysis

Two-paper mocks on the same day, with mistake tags per question. RankLab adds faculty-written paper analysis and problem sets.

Who is eligible for JEE Advanced 2027?

Based on the 2026 rules pattern, JEE Advanced 2027 is open to the top 2,50,000 B.E./B.Tech qualifiers of JEE Main 2027 across categories, born on or after 1 October 2002 (five years’ relaxation for SC, ST and PwD), who first appeared for Class 12 in 2026 or 2027 and were not previously admitted to an IIT. Confirm in the 2027 brochure.

How many attempts are allowed for JEE Advanced?

JEE Advanced allows a maximum of two attempts, in two consecutive years. A student who first appears for Class 12 in 2026 can take JEE Advanced in 2026 and 2027, provided they also qualify through JEE Main each year. Droppers should plan their JEE Advanced preparation with that second attempt as the last one.

How does partial marking work in JEE Advanced?

In recent JEE Advanced papers, multiple-correct questions gave +4 when all correct options were marked, +3, +2 or +1 when only some correct options were marked and no wrong one, and −2 for any wrong option. The scheme changes by year, so the practical rule is to mark only the options you are sure of.

What were the JEE Advanced qualifying marks in recent years?

Per the official JEE Advanced results, the Common Rank List qualifying aggregate was 86 out of 360 (23.89%) in 2023, 109 (30.35%) in 2024 and 74 (20.56%) in 2025, with minimum marks in each subject. OBC-NCL and EWS candidates needed 90% of the CRL cutoff, and SC, ST and PwD candidates 50%.

How is JEE Advanced preparation different from JEE Main?

JEE Main rewards speed and accuracy across 75 single-concept questions, while JEE Advanced rewards depth: problems that join two or three concepts, question types that change every year, and partial marking that penalises guesses. Good JEE Advanced preparation adds multi-concept problem sets and two-paper mocks on top of a solid JEE Main base.

How many IIT seats are there?

There were around 18,000 seats across 23 IITs in 2025, allotted through JoSAA counselling on JEE Advanced rank. The number shifts slightly each year as institutes add seats, and supernumerary seats for female candidates are part of the total. The current seat matrix is published on josaa.nic.in.

Can BrainStride help with JEE Advanced preparation?

Yes. BrainStride is an AI tutor for JEE, NEET and Olympiad preparation that maps weak chapters from a 20-minute diagnostic and writes a daily plan. For JEE Advanced, the RankLab plan adds multi-concept problem sets, faculty-written paper analysis, Sunday doubt clinics and a mentor check-in twice a month.
