What are the NEET UG qualifying marks by category?
Qualifying NEET UG makes you eligible for counselling; it does not guarantee a seat. The cutoff is a percentile, so the marks it translates to change every year.
| Category | 2023 | 2024 | 2025 |
|---|---|---|---|
| General / EWS (50th percentile) | 720–137 | 720–164 | 686–144 |

How this predictor works
BrainStride is an AI tutor for JEE, NEET and Olympiad preparation that runs a 20-minute diagnostic, maps your weak chapters and writes a daily plan, with every solution checked by teachers. This NEET rank predictor is the free, no-account part of that.
How are marks turned into a rank?
NEET UG has a single paper for everyone, so rank depends directly on marks: 180 compulsory questions, 720 marks, +4 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong one. We use a marks-vs-rank curve built from published analyses of recent papers and about 20.8 lakh candidates appearing, as in 2025. For your score we read the rank at 10 marks above and 10 marks below, which gives the band.
Why is the curve calibrated to 2025?
NEET UG 2025 was a noticeably tougher paper than 2024. The topper scored 686, and the General qualifying mark fell from 164 to 144. The 2025 paper was also the first with 180 compulsory questions instead of 200 with an optional section. We calibrated to 2025 because it matches the current pattern. If the 2027 paper is easier, the same marks will land at a lower rank than the tool shows.
What does the category check do?
It compares your marks with the NEET UG 2025 qualifying mark for your category — 144 for General and EWS, 127 for General-PwD, 113 for OBC, SC, ST and their PwD candidates. It does not estimate a category rank, because that depends on each year's category-wise counts, which we don't guess.
What are the limits?
- It is an estimate, not a result. NTA publishes the only official ranks.
- Near the top, small differences matter. Above 650, a few marks can move rank by hundreds.
- Counselling is separate. Rank decides your order in MCC and state counselling; seat chances depend on quota, category and college.
- Nothing is stored. The calculation runs in your browser.

How to use your predicted NEET rank
After you get a band
Confirm you clear the qualifying mark
If your marks sit close to your category’s qualifying mark, accuracy matters more than attempting more questions. Every wrong answer costs five marks against a correct one.
Count the marks to the next band
Between 450 and 600 marks, 50 marks can halve or double your rank. That is ten questions right instead of wrong — often inside two or three Biology chapters.
Find where Biology leaks
Biology is 90 of the 180 questions. Tag your last three mock mistakes by chapter and cause, and fix the NCERT lines you keep misreading before adding new material.
Re-run it after every mock
Use the average of your last three full-length mocks, not your best one. A band that moves up across weeks is the signal worth trusting.

How accurate is this NEET rank predictor?
The NEET rank predictor gives a band, not a result. It uses approximate marks-vs-rank data from recent papers, calibrated to the harder NEET UG 2025 paper and about 20.8 lakh candidates. If the 2027 paper is easier, the same marks will land at a lower rank. Treat the band as a planning number and check official ranks only on neet.nta.nic.in.
What rank will I get with 600 marks in NEET?
On a paper about as hard as NEET UG 2025, 600 marks out of 720 was roughly an all-India rank in the low thousands — about 1,500 to 3,500. In 2024, an easier paper, the same score ranked far lower. Enter your exact marks in the NEET rank predictor to see the band for your score.
What is the NEET UG qualifying mark for General category?
The NEET UG qualifying cutoff for General and EWS candidates is the 50th percentile. In NEET UG 2025 that was 144 marks out of 720, down from 164 in 2024 and up from 137 in 2023. OBC, SC and ST candidates need the 40th percentile, which was 113 marks in 2025. The 2027 figures depend on that year’s result.
Does qualifying NEET guarantee an MBBS seat?
No. Qualifying NEET UG only makes you eligible for counselling. About 12.4 lakh candidates qualified in 2025, and India has a little over 1.1 lakh MBBS seats, so seat chances depend on your rank, category, quota and fees. Government MBBS seats usually need a rank far higher than the qualifying mark.
Why did marks vs rank change so much between NEET 2024 and 2025?
NEET UG 2025 was a much tougher paper than 2024, and it was the first with 180 compulsory questions instead of 200 with an optional section. The topper scored 686 in 2025, and the General qualifying mark fell from 164 to 144. When a paper is harder, the same marks buy a much better rank.
Does the NEET rank predictor show category rank?
The NEET rank predictor shows an all-India rank band and checks your marks against the 2025 qualifying mark for your category. It does not calculate a category rank, because that depends on how many candidates of each category score above you in a given year, which is not published in advance. Official category ranks come with the NTA result.
Does the predictor store my marks?
No. The NEET rank predictor runs in your browser and does not store or send the marks or category you enter. You do not need an account or an email address. If you want a study plan built around your score, the free BrainStride diagnostic is a separate, optional step.
