A drop year is worth it when this is true

What droppers ask first
Is a drop year worth it for JEE or NEET?
A drop year is worth it when your score gap is accuracy and revision rather than a syllabus you never started, and when you can study without a daily argument about it. Take a diagnostic first: if the marks are leaking from four or five chapters, a repeat year has something specific to fix. If you cannot name the gap, another year usually repeats it.
Can I attempt NEET UG again as a dropper?
Yes. NEET UG has no limit on the number of attempts and no upper age limit, so a dropper can sit the exam again. You still need to meet the Class 12 subject and percentage requirements — Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology and English, with a PCB aggregate of 50% for General candidates. Confirm the current rules in the NTA information bulletin.
How many times can a dropper write JEE Main and JEE Advanced?
JEE Main can be attempted in three consecutive years, which is up to six sessions, so a dropper who first sat it in 2026 can sit 2027 and 2028. JEE Advanced is stricter: a maximum of two attempts in two consecutive years, and for JEE Advanced 2027 you must have first appeared for Class 12 in 2026 or 2027. A second-year dropper is usually outside that window.

I studied the whole syllabus last year. Why start with a diagnostic?
Because covering a chapter and scoring in it are different things. The BrainStride diagnostic takes twenty minutes and assumes nothing about last year, so it separates chapters you know from chapters you recognise. Does the dropper plan cover Class 11 again?
