Ranges overlap and are rounded, so chapter ranges do not add up exactly to a unit or subject total. Counts shift by a question or two every year.

How should you split Physical, Inorganic and Organic chemistry?

Roughly evenly, but not with the same method. Physical chemistry is calculation: the marks come from doing the same twenty question types until the arithmetic stops slipping. Inorganic is recall with conditions attached — a reaction remembered without its reagent or temperature is worth nothing in a four-option question. Organic sits between the two: mechanisms reason, named reactions recall.

In practice, most students under-prepare Inorganic because it feels like reading rather than studying, then lose 3–5 Q on p-Block alone.

Is NCERT enough for NEET Chemistry?

For Inorganic and much of Organic, NCERT is not just enough — it is the source. Questions are written from its lines, tables and exercise problems, including the small print under a diagram. For Physical chemistry, NCERT gives the concepts but too few numericals, so add timed practice per chapter.

Read NCERT actively: cover the table, recall the trend, then check. Passive re-reading is what produces the feeling of knowing a chapter that a mock does not confirm.

What is the fastest way to revise reactions?

One page per chapter, written by you, with reagent and conditions beside every arrow — then rewrite it from memory a week later and compare. Reactions learned without conditions

Why it happens

The product is remembered, the reagent and temperature are not — and the options are built from exactly that confusion.

The fix

Write every reaction as reagent, conditions, product. If you cannot say the conditions aloud, the reaction is not learned.

Mole concept slips under time

Why it happens

Molarity and molality, or grams and moles, get swapped in the first line and the rest of the working is wasted.

The fix

Write what is given with units before calculating, and check the denominator: solution volume for molarity, solvent mass for molality.

Shape and geometry confused

Why it happens

Lone pairs are counted for the geometry, then forgotten when the shape is named.

The fix

Count bond pairs and lone pairs separately, name the electron geometry first, then the molecular shape.

Guessing on recall questions

Why it happens

Inorganic questions feel close enough to guess, and −1 quietly undoes the marks earned elsewhere.

The fix

Rule out two options before you answer. If you cannot, leave it: a blank is 0 and a wrong answer is −1.

NCERT exercises skipped

Why it happens

They look easy beside coaching modules, so they get postponed to a revision that never happens.

The fix

Do the exercises chapter by chapter as you finish the chapter, including the in-text questions and the tables.
