The tracker uses the official unit lists. For JEE Advanced we split the brochure’s broad headings into chapters, and for NEET Biology we list the NCERT chapters under each unit.

How this syllabus tracker works

Where does the chapter list come from?
From the official 2026 documents: the NTA JEE Main Paper 1 syllabus, the JEE Advanced information brochure and the NMC-prescribed NEET UG syllabus. The same list powers the JEE Main syllabus, JEE Advanced syllabus and NEET syllabus pages, so they never disagree. JEE Advanced chapters that are not JEE Main units are tagged "Beyond JEE Main".
What do the three states mean?
- Not started — you haven't opened the chapter yet.
- In progress — you've studied it but can't yet solve its past questions reliably.
- Done — you can solve its previous-year questions under time. Finishing the coaching module is not the same thing.
What are the limits?
- It saves only in this browser. Clearing site data or switching phones starts you from zero. Use Print to keep a copy.
- It counts chapters, not marks. Chapters are not equal — see the weightage tables on the syllabus pages.
- The 2027 syllabus is not out yet. We will update the list if NTA, NMC or the Joint Admission Board changes it.
- It trusts your ticks. It can't tell whether "done" is really done — that is what the diagnostic is for.
How to use your syllabus progress
After you tick
Count the weeks, not the chapters
Divide the chapters left by the weeks to your exam. If that is more than four or five a week alongside school or coaching, the plan needs cutting, not more hours.
Finish in-progress chapters first
A long "in progress" list is the most expensive state to be in. Close two half-done chapters before opening a new one.
Test every "done" with past papers
Solve a set of previous-year questions for the chapter under time. If accuracy is below about 70%, move it back to in progress.
Revisit done chapters on a schedule
A chapter cleared in June fades by October. Put each done chapter back into revision a few weeks later, then again before the exam.

Is the BrainStride syllabus tracker free?

Your progress is saved in your own browser and is not sent to BrainStride.
Will my syllabus tracker progress be saved?
The syllabus tracker saves your progress in your browser’s local storage, so it is still there when you come back on the same device and browser. It does not sync between phones or laptops, and clearing site data or using a private window resets it. Use the Print button to keep a copy of your list.
Is the syllabus tracker updated for 2027?
The syllabus tracker uses the 2026 official syllabi: the NTA JEE Main syllabus, the JEE Advanced information brochure and the NMC NEET UG syllabus. The 2027 versions had not been published as of September 2026. When NTA, NMC or the Joint Admission Board releases them, BrainStride will update the chapter list to match.
How many chapters are in the JEE Main syllabus?
The JEE Main Paper 1 syllabus has 54 units: 20 in Physics, 20 in Chemistry and 14 in Mathematics. Several units cover more than one NCERT chapter, so the number of textbook chapters is higher. The syllabus tracker lists all 54 units so you can tick them off one by one.
When should I mark a chapter as done?
Mark a chapter as done in the syllabus tracker only when you can solve its previous-year questions under time with good accuracy — roughly 70% or better is a sensible bar. Finishing the NCERT chapter or the coaching module is not enough on its own. Until then, keep the chapter in progress so your remaining workload stays honest.
