The NEET syllabus 2027 is expected to follow the NMC-prescribed 2026 syllabus: 20 Physics units, 20 Chemistry units and 10 Biology units covering 32 NCERT chapters. Here is every unit, the NCERT chapter it comes from, and where past papers put the most questions.

Has the NEET syllabus changed for 2027?
Not as of September 2026 — the NEET UG 2027 syllabus has not been notified. The National Medical Commission prescribes it, and NTA publishes it with the information bulletin; applications usually open in February. Until then, the 2026 syllabus above is the one to study.
What changed in the last revision?
The National Medical Commission revised the NEET UG syllabus for 2024 to match the rationalised NCERT textbooks. Biology now follows the current books, which is why this page lists 32 Biology chapters. A few topics went the other way: p-Block Elements stayed in the Chemistry syllabus even though NCERT dropped those chapters. If your notes come from an older edition, check each chapter against the tables above rather than a list of deletions.
Did the 2025 exam pattern change the syllabus?
No. From 2025 the paper dropped the optional Section B, so NEET UG now has 180 compulsory questions in 180 minutes — Physics 45, Chemistry 45, Biology 90 — at +4 and −1. The syllabus was not reduced. See the NEET exam pattern for details.

How to use the NEET syllabus well
Is NCERT enough for the NEET syllabus?
For Biology, NCERT is the syllabus: most questions follow NCERT lines, diagrams and examples closely, so read every line of the 32 chapters above, including the boxed text. For Physics, NCERT covers the concepts but you need far more numerical practice. For Chemistry, NCERT is essential for inorganic and organic, while physical chemistry needs extra problems — and p-Block Elements needs the older NCERT chapters.
Class 11 or Class 12: which matters more for NEET?
Both are examined, and Class 11 is where many students lose ground. By our count, 38 units and chapters sit in Class 11, 30 in Class 12 and 4 span both years. Human physiology, plant physiology and mechanics are Class 11 topics that bring a steady share of questions every year.
How should I order the chapters?
Not in syllabus order. In Biology, start with the high-return Class 12 units — genetics, reproduction, ecology — if your boards are close, then rotate Class 11 physiology in daily. In Physics, fix Kinematics and Laws of Motion before Rotational Motion. Mark a chapter done in the tracker only after you can clear its previous year questions with high accuracy.

The NEET Physics syllabus lists the same 20 units as JEE Main Physics, from Units and Measurements to Experimental Skills. The difference is in the questions: NEET Physics questions are shorter and more direct, with 45 questions to answer alongside 135 others in 180 minutes, so speed and accuracy on standard problems matter more than multi-step depth.
