The NEET 2027 exam date is not announced yet, but NEET UG is expected on the first Sunday of May 2027 — 2 May 2027 if NTA keeps the first-Sunday pattern of 4 May 2025 and 3 May 2026. One caution: the Centre has said NEET UG is expected to move to computer-based mode after the 2026 paper leak, and NTA has not yet notified the 2027 mode, pattern or dates. The application usually opens in February, the admit card about a week before the exam, and the result in mid-June — in 2026 the whole calendar slipped when the May paper was cancelled and re-held on 21 June.

NEET UG 2026 was held on Sunday 3 May 2026 as scheduled. On 12 May NTA cancelled it after a paper-leak investigation — the agency said the findings "raised serious concerns about the fairness of the examination process" — and a CBI case was registered. On 15 May NTA announced a re-exam for Sunday 21 June 2026, with no fresh registration, the fee refunded and fresh admit cards. The provisional answer key came on 25 June, OMR sheets were shown from 13 to 15 July, and the final key and result were declared together on 16 July 2026. About 20 lakh of the 22.8 lakh registered candidates appeared in the re-exam; 11.21 lakh qualified; two candidates scored 715.
Three things from that episode matter for a 2027 candidate. The result came six weeks later than usual, so counselling started in August instead of July. The re-exam was markedly easier than the 2025 paper, which is why the General qualifying mark jumped from 144 to 213. And the Centre responded by saying the exam would move online.
Possibly, but nothing is notified. On 15 May 2026 the Education Minister said NEET UG would move to computer-based mode from 2027; on 5 August 2026 the Centre told the Supreme Court it was weighing a two-stage, JEE-like computer-based exam and that students would get adequate advance notice. As of October 2026, NTA has not published the 2027 mode, pattern, number of questions, marking scheme or dates. Prepare on the current syllabus and pattern — the content does not change with the mode — and treat any "NEET 2027 pattern" you see online as a guess until the information bulletin is out. This page will be updated the day it is.
The NEET UG application form usually opens in February, so the 2027 form is expected in February 2027 on neet.nta.nic.in. The information bulletin is released with it and is the document that fixes the dates, fees, eligibility rules and exam cities for the year.
Filling the form is not difficult, but mistakes are expensive: a wrong category, a mismatched name or an unreadable signature can cause trouble at counselling months later. Fill it in one sitting, with documents ready, and download the confirmation page.

No. NEET UG is held once a year, usually in early May, unlike JEE Main, which has two sessions. If you miss NEET UG 2027 or are unhappy with your score, the next opportunity is NEET UG 2028. There is no attempt limit, so a drop year is possible if you meet the age and Class 12 criteria.
